The babe from Pirates of the Caribbean, Naomie Harris, has made a grand departure… and is set to ascend to megastardom as the new Bond girl.
At 34, Naomie will take on the role of the sultry sidekick to Daniel Craig in the upcoming 007 film, which is yet to be shot.
As Tia Dalma, the eerie witch in the second and third Pirate movies, the British actress delivered a mesmerizing performance.
Her passionate love scene with Jamie Foxx in the remake of Miami Vice highlighted her capability for the Bond franchise.
Practicing pilates and yoga keeps Naomi in fantastic shape, and she confidently declares, “I’m totally comfortable naked.”
Equally sharp is her intellect; she holds a degree in social and political science from Cambridge University.
Despite her film success, London-based Naomie shared that she often goes unrecognized on the streets. “I like that,” she comments. “I’ve got one of those faces that people don’t recognise.”
However, this is all set to change as she steps into the legacy of stunning Bond girls such as Ursula Andress, Jane Seymour, and Halle Berry.
The storyline for the new project, referred to only by its working title Bond 23, remains a closely guarded secret.
Judi Dench will reprise her role as M, and Ralph Fiennes is in contention for a part as well. The film is scheduled for release in November 2012.
