A reporter was informed by Sir Roger Moore that he “can’t understand” the accent of fellow Bond actor Sir Sean Connery.
Additionally, he expressed his lack of admiration for the latest Bond film, Quantum of Solace, which featured Daniel Craig.
At 84 years old, Sir Roger characterized the film as “a long disjointed commercial.”
Regarding his Bond predecessor, Sir Roger, who is renowned for his dry humor, remarked: “Sean is a good actor, it’s unfortunate that I can’t grasp what he’s saying.”
He mentioned that Johnny Depp is his favorite contemporary actor, but added: “I wish he would opt for a name that I can easily recall.”
The role he wished he could have portrayed was that of Lawrence of Arabia.
“I’d have cherished the opportunity to be as talented as Peter O’Toole.”
Over a span of 12 years, the actor starred in seven James Bond films, starting with Live and Let Die in 1973.
Born on October 14, 1927, he kicked off his acting journey as an extra in the 1940s before pursuing studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Other notable roles he played include Ivanhoe, Simon Templar in The Saint, and Lord Brett Sinclair in The Persuaders.
Connery featured in six Bond films from 1962 to 1971, including Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever.
