Paul McCartney has announced that he has stopped smoking marijuana for the sake of his daughter.
Earlier this month, the legendary Beatle, who unveiled his new studio LP ‘Kisses On The Bottom’, stated that his decision to quit the substance stemmed from his responsibilities as a father to Beatrice.
He expressed: “I smoked my share. When raising a child, if you’re fortunate, a sense of responsibility kicks in at some point. Enough is enough…there just doesn’t seem to be a need for it anymore.”
Notably, the singer was arrested in Japan in 1980 during a tour with his band Wings, spending 10 nights in jail after customs officials found half a pound of marijuana in his luggage. He was ultimately released and deported.
McCartney shared that he and the other members of The Beatles had talked about the possibility of reuniting but were never able to come to a unanimous decision that it was the right move.
‘Kisses On The Bottom’ includes songs that McCartney listened to during his childhood, along with two new tracks, ‘My Valentine’ and ‘Only Our Hearts’. The album was produced by Tommy LiPuma and features contributions from Diana Krall and her band, as well as appearances by Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder.
