For several years, Jennifer Hawkins has represented the department store Myer, but now she has a new fashion ambassador to join her ranks – Jessica Hart, a model raised in Melbourne and currently based in New York, who has recently been appointed the face of Myer’s trendy diffusion line, Wayne by Wayne Cooper.
Speaking before this evening’s Myer summer fashion launch in Sydney, Hart expressed her excitement, stating that she is “over the moon” about being selected to represent the store alongside the former Miss Universe.
“I’ve been signed for a one-year contract initially, and we’ll see what unfolds afterwards, but I’m absolutely thrilled to be involved,” Hart mentioned.
In the last year or so, Hart has emerged as a street-style icon, frequently spotted in New York, donning her signature blend of rock ‘n’ roll leather with indie fashion.
This is likely why Myer has chosen Hart to represent its youthful labels, targeting the demographic of buyers in their 20s.
Although fashion journalists often grow skeptical regarding model spokespeople repeating company narratives, Hart genuinely seems enthusiastic as she discusses the upcoming season’s trends.
Among the trends are Modern Military – showcasing khakis and animal print, Cosmetic Bloom – featuring feminine pinks and ruffles, and Nautical – emphasizing Breton stripes along with navy, black, and white color palettes.
“As a typical Melbourne girl, I’d probably throw a black leather jacket with those pretty pink dresses and pair them with motorcycle boots,” Hart added.
The busy model has little time to rest, as she departs Sydney tomorrow morning for a fashion shoot in Mexico with a German publication.
Her next destination is Sweden, where she will work on a campaign for the Swedish retail chain H&M, a brand she has represented for the past two years.
After that, it will be back to New York for a much-needed break.
“I think by then I’m definitely going to need it,” she concluded.
