In a ruling from a court in Hessen, Germany, it has been decided that insurance companies are not obligated to cover breast reduction surgeries since having a large bust is not considered a medical issue.
As a result, insurers are only responsible for payments related to corrections of breasts that are classified as deformed.
The case was initiated by a 38-year-old woman who experienced orthopedic and physical issues attributed to the weight of her breasts.
Doctors had recommended breast reduction surgery for her condition.
However, her insurance provider deemed it unnecessary and declined to pay for the surgical procedure. They argued that her back problems stemmed from her being overweight, asserting that her discomforts could be alleviated through weight loss and muscle building.
The court sided with the insurance company, leading to the woman with large breasts losing her case.
