Hugh Grant is best mates with Liz’s son, Damian

He’s always maintained a good relationship with his ex, Elizabeth Hurley.

And it seems that Hugh Grant is keen to ensure that he remains in her family’s good books as well.

The 51-year-old took his ex’s son Damian along as his plus one for the premiere of Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists at the May Fair Hotel.

Damian, nine, looked smart in a black blazer, white shirt and blue silk tie for the outing.

Hugh looked relaxed and in good spirits as he posed with a parrot playfully before the screening.

The Four Weddings and a Funeral star is joined by co-stars David Tennant and Brian Blessed in Pirates!, which is his first animated film.

The movie, directed by Peter Lord and Jeff Newitt, is the latest offering from Aardman Animations, creators of Wallace and Gromit.

Grant voices Pirate Captain, and the film follows his quest to win the Pirate of the Year award.

His crew is voiced by Martin Freeman, Brendan Gleeson, Russell Tovey and Ashley Jensen.

Pirate Captain leads his men from Blood Island to London, teaming up with the scientist, played by David Tennant along the way.

Hugh recently opened up about how he is adjusting to fatherhood himself, admitting that he likes his baby daughter, who he had with former girlfriend Tinglan Hong, ‘very much’.

Grant made the admission as he revealed he and Chinese actress Tinglan had decided to call the little girl Tabitha.

The 51-year-old actor told The Guardian newspaper: ‘Lots of people warned me that the baby period is not that exciting.

‘But I am excited, actually. I thought, well, I’ll bluff through – but very little bluffing has been required.’

Grant also said he has no regrets about becoming a father for the first time.

He said: ‘I like my daughter very much. Fantastic. Has she changed my life? I’m not sure.

‘Not yet. Not massively, no. But I’m absolutely thrilled to have had her, I really am. And I feel a better person.’
