It has been revealed that Hugh Grant has become a dad for the first time at the age of 51.
A baby girl was secretly welcomed into the world by the actor over a month ago.
The mother is reported to be Tinglan Hong, 32, who is a Chinese neighbor of Grant’s in West London, UK.
A representative for him stated: “I can confirm Hugh is the delighted father of a baby girl.”
“He and the mother had a brief affair, and although this was unplanned, Hugh could not be happier or more supportive. He maintains very friendly relations with the mother.”
Reports indicate that Tinglan had a Caesarean birth at London’s Portland Hospital on September 26, 2011.
It is believed that Hugh was not present during the birth, but he did spend half an hour at the hospital the following day before leaving for a golf trip in Scotland.
Earlier this year, bachelor Hugh and Tinglan were spotted on dates and were seen sharing a kiss in a local pub in January.
However, their relationship is said to have deteriorated after she found out she was pregnant. In April, there was much speculation regarding Tinglan’s pregnancy after she was photographed with a noticeable bump.
The two were seen at a nearby Vietnamese cocktail bar having a “very important” discussion.
Last year, the About A Boy actor confessed that upon turning 50, he felt it was time to settle down and expressed a desire for children.
Hugh, whose estimated worth is £40 million (AUD $62 million), ended his three-year relationship with heiress Jemima Khan in 2007.
Prior to that, his 13-year relationship with actress Liz Hurley concluded in 2000.
