Suddenly, after eight years of managing a bar, Laura Maggi noticed men beating a path to her establishment.
This influx was not due to her coffee and aperitifs; rather, it was because she began showing up for work in revealing outfits.
Day and night, hundreds of male patrons crowded her bar, leaving their vehicles double-parked on the nearby streets.
The traffic congestion became so severe that the lady mayor indicated she was contemplating an emergency bylaw to control the flow of vehicles in the vicinity.
Now, women in Bagnolo Mella, a small northern Italian town, have deemed Le Cafe off-limits to their men, and 34-year-old Miss Maggi has emerged as a national sensation.
Yesterday, she appeared as a guest on Italian morning television, stating, ‘I don’t see what the issue is – it’s merely harmless fun.’
‘If the guys choose to come here, what can I do?
‘I recognize that I have angered the women, but that’s not my concern.’
‘It’s not my fault if men prefer to enjoy a drink in my bar.’
She further revealed that some customers travel up to 70 miles just to grab a coffee at her bar.

With 5,000 new friends on Facebook, a local survey indicated that 46 percent of those polled felt that the partners of her male customers 
should ‘question why their partners are drawn to Laura instead of them’.
A number of wives from the town have appeared on television to voice their complaints. One remarked, ‘This is outrageous and should not be permitted.’
‘Our town has always been quiet and respectable. Now we are known across the entire country due to the scant clothing this barmaid wears while serving drinks.’
‘The women here are quite displeased, and we have raised our concerns with the council.’
Bagnolo’s mayor, Cristina Almici, stated: ‘We have received multiple complaints from women regarding the bar, and we are evaluating our options related to public order.’
‘Since news of Laura began to circulate, there has been a significant increase in traffic to the town, resulting in poor parking and some minor vandalism incidents.’
‘While we cannot prevent people from visiting her bar, I know it is extremely popular among men in the area – personally, I see no issue with her appearance or attire.’
‘If there’s a problem, it’s certainly with the men who attend.’
Nevertheless, she added: ‘My husband is definitely not permitted to visit there.’
