Harry Potter star not surprised about ‘award snub’

Daniel Radcliffe expressed that he is not shocked by the absence of a Best Picture nomination for ‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2’ at this year’s Oscars.

The final installment of the beloved wizarding series was excluded from the Academy’s list of the year’s finest films, leading Radcliffe to assert that he and his fellow cast members were not going to “lose sleep” over the omission.

“I didn’t anticipate a Best Picture nomination, and no, it doesn’t bother us,” he mentioned. “After being part of this for so long and having made numerous films, I don’t believe that as you conclude that series, anyone is entitled to that Best Picture recognition.”

“It would have been wonderful, but it’s not something we’re going to lose sleep over,” he further commented.

Radcliffe also shared his mixed sentiments regarding actors receiving awards at ceremonies, saying: “In this industry, we love to give ourselves credit, and we enjoy assuring ourselves of our accomplishments and how incredible we are. It tends to be quite self-congratulatory.”

Upcoming for Radcliffe is his role in ‘The Woman In Black’, directed by James Watkins, with a theatrical release slated for February 10. Additionally, he previously revealed that he nearly declined the iconic role of Harry Potter and is also considered for portraying beat poet Allen Ginsberg in the thriller ‘Kill Your Darlings’.
