The women’s football squad from France participating in the FIFA World Cup has posed nude for the German publication Bild in order to highlight their sport.
Gaetane Thiney, 25, along with Elodie Thomis, 24, and Corine Franco, 27, explained that their provocative poses were intended to instigate controversy and attract media attention.
The trio took these photos under the slogan, “Is this how we should show up before you come to our games?”
They expressed their desire to increase visibility for women’s football and to spark discussions about the game.
“The pictures turned out really well and I am very pleased with them,” Thiney shared.
“Our goal was to provoke and incite conversation.”
Last month, players from the host nation Germany also participated in a similar campaign by posing naked for Playboy.
