Evil Dead is remade and is ready for release

Fans of horror are in for a terror-filled treat as the first trailer for Evil Dead is released.

Billed as ‘The most terrifying film you will ever experience’ the remake of the 1981 classic is written and produced by original director Sam Raimi.

The movie stars Jane Levy as Mia, a recovering addict, who heads for a break in a remote cabin with her brother and three friends.

When they discover the sinister tome called The Book of the Dead, they unwittingly unleash an ancient evil that lurks in the woods.

The nightmarish new footage hints at many similarities to the original movie, including the blood-splattered faces, glassy-eyed zombies and the infamous ‘tree rape’ scene.

Sam Raimi recently revealed that the new movie would be bloodier than the first and said: “It’s really bloody. It’s so bloody, it will make your head spin. I’ve seen almost all the dailies and they’re really going for it. It’s gonna be grisly and intense and non-stop.”

And Bruce Campbell, who starred in the original – filmed in 1979 – praised the remake.

He said: “The nice thing is the remake looks beautiful.

“The effects are ten times better than we ever had access to and the actors are all better than we were in 1979. Though granted Sam Raimi is a mad genius, so we got a crazy result like Evil Dead out of this amateur enthusiasm sort of thing.”

Evil Dead, directed by Fede Alvarez, is released on April 19.
