Evil Dead is remade and is ready for release

A terror-filled treat awaits horror fans with the unveiling of the first trailer for Evil Dead.

Advertised as “The most terrifying film you will ever experience,” this remake of the 1981 classic is both written and produced by the original director, Sam Raimi.

Featuring Jane Levy as Mia, a recovering addict, the film follows her as she takes a getaway to a remote cabin with her brother and three friends.

Upon discovering the sinister tome known as The Book of the Dead, they unwittingly release an ancient evil lurking in the woods.

The newly released footage suggests numerous parallels to the original film, showcasing blood-splattered faces, glassy-eyed zombies, and the infamous ‘tree rape’ scene.

Sam Raimi has disclosed that the new film will be bloodier than its predecessor, stating: “It’s really bloody. It’s so bloody, it will make your head spin. I’ve seen almost all the dailies and they’re really going for it. It’s gonna be grisly and intense and non-stop.”

Bruce Campbell, who starred in the original film shot in 1979, has commended the remake.

He remarked: “The nice thing is the remake looks beautiful.

“The effects are ten times better than what we had access to and the actors are far superior to us back in 1979. Although, to be fair, Sam Raimi is a mad genius, which led to a crazy result like Evil Dead from what was essentially amateur enthusiasm.”

Directed by Fede Alvarez, Evil Dead is set to be released on April 19.
