Monkees star Davy Jones ignored warning signs of the heart attack that killed him, it was revealed last night.
The British-born pop idol dismissed chest pains as indigestion.
Davy, 66, died after being taken ill near his Florida home last week. Daughter Talia, 43, said he had recently had medical tests. She said: “Everything came back great. He was told his heart was like a 25-year-old’s. So when he had pains he never thought it was anything but a bad case of heartburn. In fact he needed more extensive tests.”
It was reported that Davy’s funeral was to take place in Florida yesterday. But his family wanted a private ceremony — and bandmates Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork and Mike Nesmith were not expected to attend.
Davy is survived by TV presenter third wife Jessica Pacheco, 34, and four daughters. The Monkees had a US TV show in the 1960s and their hits included Daydream Believer.
