While I excel in my role, my boss consistently favors other employees and overlooks me for promotions. Aside from oral favors, I’m unsure how to advance. Do you believe there’s a tactic I could implement that doesn’t involve compromising my dignity?
Lily says – Standing out in a competitive environment can be challenging, but perseverance is key to success. If your boss resembles my teacher, you’ll just need to grasp a few unwritten rules of conduct to make headway in the workplace.
Firstly, it’s crucial that you NEVER blurt out an answer when the boss poses a question. That’s behavior only foolish individuals exhibit, and it typically lands them in trouble with their peers. However, merely raising your hand is not a guaranteed path to being selected either. Instead, you should enhance your raised hand by progressively lifting your entire body until you’re nearly in a kneeling position on your chair, while simultaneously adopting your most pleading expression and emitting anxious squeaks to draw the boss’s attention to yourself. If you manage to elevate your arm higher than anyone else’s, you stand a good chance of being chosen. Should someone else get to it first, just aim higher and squeak louder next time.
