It is, perhaps, a tale of our times…a pregnant model and the mystery over the identity of the prospective father.
Alicia Douvall, 32, rose to fame as a self-publicist pin-up, with an addiction to cosmetic surgery and a penchant for high-profile flings with stars including X Factor Svengali Simon Cowell.
When it emerged last month that the mother-of-one – born Sarah Howes – was pregnant, privately-educated Miss Douvall told of her delight at adding to her family.
However, the blonde model who is never usually shy of the limelight initially declined to reveal the identity of the father.
Now, though, she has claimed the prospective father is mobile telephone millionaire Simon Jordan, the flamboyant former chairman of Crystal Palace football club.
She announced on Twitter yesterday afternoon, ‘Yes Simon is the father. Congrats to Simon Jordan.’
She went on, ‘I live my life the way I want to long as I am truthful, respectful and honest.’
It is claimed by sources close to Miss Douvall, that Jordan…who was estimated to be worth $60 million just two years ago…had a secret relationship with the blonde model.
Most recently, Jordan had been believed to be in a long-term relationship with Suzi Walker, 39, the ex-wife of one-time England football goalkeeper Ian Walker.
A close friend of Miss Douvall’s has claimed the model fell ‘in love’ with Jordan, who is famous for his year-round orange tan.
The friend claimed, ‘Alicia was in love with Simon. She thought they had a future together. In her eyes they were a couple…and a couple who were very much in love.’
Miss Douvall publicly voiced her anger at her treatment by her mystery former lover on her Twitter page last month although at the time she refused to reveal his identity.
Jordan became a household name when he bought Crystal Palace in 2000 after he and his business partner had sold their mobile telephone business Pocket Phone Shop to One2One for $100 million.
In the Sunday Times Rich List of 2008, he was a new entry listed as having a $65 million fortune.
He enjoyed the trappings of wealth, including the nine-bedroomed Spanish villa which he bought for £6million in 2001. It has a tennis court, full-sized football pitch Olympic-sized swimming pool and a six-car garage.
In 2007, he boasted he had nine cars in Spain and six in London…including a $350,000 titanium silver Aston Martin Vanquish and a Lamborghini Gallardo.
He also had a £3million yacht berthed in Puerto Banus and invested $14 million in 25 villas in Marbella.
Nevertheless, Jordan could not prevent Crystal Palace from slipping into financial administration in 2010.
Before he started dating Miss Walker, he had had a series of high-profile relationships.
He dated George Best’s widow Alex, model Sophie Anderton and rock star Noel Gallagher’s ex-wife Meg Mathews.
He and Miss Walker were believed to split their time between his Spanish mansion and her $3.5 million former marital home in Cobham, Surrey.
However, in recent times, it appears he has fallen on hard times.
On his Twitter page, he describes himself as the ‘former owner of Crystal Palace in exile in Spain, spending time counting my money which is not taking very long these days.’
Miss Douvall is a self-confessed plastic surgery addict, having had 15 breast enlargement procedures and five nose procedures.
She even had her ribs shaved to give her a smaller waist.
She is reported to have had liaisons with celebrities including Cowell, former Simply Red star Mick Hucknall and ex-Manchester United footballer Dwight Yorke. She was also engaged to former American basketball star Dennis Rodman.
Despite her louche lifestyle, Miss Douvall had a typical middle-class upbringing, attending Springfield Park School in Sussex, whose alumni include models Jodie and Jemma Kidd.
However, she was expelled at 14 due to a cannabis scandal and was pregnant with daughter Georgia a year later. Ironically, Miss Douvall has never revealed who 16-year-old Georgia’s father is.
Last night, Mr Jordan declined to comment. He was believed to be consulting lawyers over her claims.
